A total of nine gardens that embrace different climate zones convey the unmistakeable character of the building. They exemplify the vegetations of temperate climate zones bridging the spectrum of all five continents, ranging from a Californian beach to a Japanese tea garden. This worldwide heterogeneity of the gardens is likewise symbolic for the internationality of Lufthansa and its global connections.
The gardens are simultaneously open spaces and places of retreat. Furthermore they are the fundament for the ecological climate concept prevailing throughout Lufthansa Aviation Center. Not only do the glazed gardens generate a healthy microclimate in the entire building, but they also form an effective functional cushion against heat, cold and noise. The comb-like structure of the wings allows optimal natural lighting and sustains the ventilation of all workplaces. In this way the gardens create an outstanding climate balance.
